SAYLA Monthly CLE Luncheon - June 20, 2023

Please join SAYLA at its Monthly CLE Luncheon, where Kristen Adams, Staff Attorney at SALSA in their Housing and Homeless program, will be our guest speaker.

In her CLE, Kristen will cover the following topics:

• Evictions, generally; and
• Requirements landlords/property owners must follow to properly file an eviction (notice and citation); and
• Most common defenses for tenants facing eviction for non-payment of rent; and
• The eviction appeal process and issue spotting (appealing by Statement of Inability to Pay Affidavit, paying into the court registries on appeal; county court)

Most tenants facing eviction do not have legal representation at their hearings, which often results in unfair outcomes. That is why SALSA’s Housing and Homelessness Program is at JP1 every Tuesday and Thursday to assist tenants understand their rights and obligations after receiving an eviction judgment, including their right to appeal the judgment and the appeal process.

Parking: Ample free on-site parking
CLE: 1 hour of MCLE credit (0 ethics) will be available to attendees. Course number to be provided at the event.
Dress code: business casual

Cost: $20 for SAYLA members; $25 for guests / non-SAYLA members
